Are you a moving company?+
Yes, completely. Space City Movers is a licensed, insured Texas moving company based in Dayton and working all across Greater Houston, with TxDMV household-goods registration and USDOT/MC for interstate jobs. Our own trucks, our own uniformed crews, every move — no brokering, no subcontracting, the same crew at both ends.
Walk me through how you land on a flat-rate number.+
We ask about your home, your inventory, the access at both ends, and where you're going, then we put a single flat number in writing before move day. That number is what you pay. If you'd rather go by the hour, local crews run $185/hr for two movers and a truck or $255/hr for three movers and a truck, with the one-hour minimum waived.
What does it take to hold my date?+
A $105 deposit locks your spot on the calendar, and it's credited straight back to your final bill. During spring and early summer the calendar fills up fast ahead of storm season, so booking early is the safest way to get the date you want.
Do you really use your own crew, or do you hand the job off?+
Our own crew, every time. The uniformed movers who load your truck in Houston are the same ones who unload it at the new place. We never use day labor and we never pass your move to some carrier you've never spoken with. We own the trucks and we carry our own insurance.
How is my stuff protected?+
Every shipment includes $0.60/lb released value as the federal standard, and you can upgrade to full-value protection. We carry up to $1,000,000 in cargo coverage per shipment, and for apartment towers or plant sites we'll provide a certificate of insurance ahead of time.
Do you move during hurricane and flood season?+
We move year-round, but from June through November we keep an eye on the Gulf. We load at dawn to beat the heat, wrap everything against humidity and sudden squalls, and if a storm is genuinely threatening your date we'll reschedule rather than risk your belongings on a flooded road.
Can you handle raised or elevated homes in the flood zones?+
Yes. Plenty of homes around Kingwood, Atascocita, and the coastal areas sit elevated on piers or extra stories above the flood line. Our crews plan the stair and ramp logistics in advance so an elevated home doesn't turn into a surprise on your bill or your day.
What about pianos, gun safes, and other heavy specialty items?+
Reggie Dunn leads our piano and specialty work, so uprights, baby grands, gun safes, and heavy appliances are routine for us. Just flag them when you request your quote so we send the right crew size and equipment.
Do you do long-distance moves out of Texas?+
Yes. Jorge Salas runs our long-haul jobs under our USDOT/MC authority, with destinations like Dallas, New Orleans, Atlanta, Denver, Phoenix, and the coasts quoted as one flat price. Whoever wraps your furniture at the Houston end is the same crew that carries it into the new place.
How far around Houston do you cover?+
We're in Dayton and we cover the full Greater Houston metro: Baytown, Mont Belvieu, Crosby, Liberty, Channelview, Atascocita, Kingwood, and Houston itself, plus the surrounding Liberty County exurbs. If you're near the edge of that range, just ask.
