A Flat-Rate Local Crew for Dayton and the Houston Metro
Space City Movers has run its own trucks out of Dayton since 2012, covering Liberty County and the full Greater Houston spread — from the refinery towns along the Ship Channel to the wooded villages of Kingwood. Dustin Wells started the company after years moving freight along the Houston Ship Channel because he was tired of watching neighbors get hit with hourly surprises. Every local move we book gets a flat written price up front, and the same crew that loads your home in Dayton is the crew that unloads it at the other end.
From Baytown to Kingwood, Greater Houston moving crew turns the whole job into one flat figure before move day and stands behind it, with nothing extra waiting at the end.
Built for How Southeast Texas Actually Moves
A local move here isn’t a clean ten-minute hop. You might be going from a brick ranch in Crosby to a new build in Mont Belvieu, or from a Heights bungalow to a townhome inside Beltway 8. We plan routes around US-90 through Dayton, I-10 across the Gulf Coast spine, and the chokepoints on FM-1960 and the Sam Houston Tollway. Because almost every home out here is slab-on-grade with no basement, our crews are fast on ground-floor and two-story work and bring the floor protection that humid Texas tile and luxury vinyl plank demand.
We Load at Dawn for a Reason
Houston summers are brutal, and a loaded truck baking in the afternoon sun is no good for your crew or your furniture. We start early — trucks rolling at first light — so the heavy lifting is done before the heat and humidity climb. During hurricane and flood season, June through November, dispatcher Travis Lange keeps an eye on the Gulf, and if a storm is spinning up we’ll talk to you straight about whether move day holds or shifts.
What a Local Move Costs
We keep pricing plain. Two movers and a truck are $185 an hour and three movers and a truck are $255 an hour, with no padded one-hour minimum. Most folks choose the flat rate instead, which starts at $389 for a studio or one-bedroom and scales with the size of your home. A $105 deposit locks your date and comes straight off the final total. Your goods ride covered at the standard 60 cents per pound released value, with full-value protection available and up to $1,000,000 in cargo coverage per shipment.

How we land on the price
It begins with a short walkthrough or video survey, and off your actual inventory we set one flat Greater Houston rate — no hourly meter hiding anywhere inside it. Whatever that quote reads is the whole price, with nothing tacked on once the truck is loaded or a storm slides in off the Gulf and shifts the date.
