01 Overview

Hauling Your Household Out of Southeast Texas for Good

When a job, a posting or a family decision pulls you out of Southeast Texas, Space City Movers takes the whole haul ourselves. We hold USDOT and MC authority for interstate work, and our long-haul lead Jorge Salas drives the routes he plans. Whether you’re rolling north on I-45 toward Dallas, west on I-10 toward San Antonio and beyond, or east toward New Orleans and the Deep South, the truck we load in Dayton is the truck that delivers — no warehouse swap, no shared trailer, no broker handing your shipment to whoever’s cheapest that week.

From Baytown to Kingwood, Space City Movers turns the whole job into one flat figure before move day and stands behind it, with nothing extra waiting at the end.

One Truck, One Crew, One Number

A lot of long-distance grief comes from the handoff model: your stuff gets dropped at a terminal, reloaded with strangers’ belongings, and tracked down later. We don’t work that way. Your goods get tagged and inventoried at the Dayton load, ride on a dedicated Space City truck, and come off with the same crew at the other end. That’s how you keep a 4-bedroom slab home’s worth of furniture intact over 1,000 miles.

Built Around the Energy-Corridor Clock

Plenty of our interstate moves are refinery, petrochemical and Ship Channel families relocating on a hard start date. We get it — when the new plant says report Monday, your sofa can’t be ‘somewhere on the highway.’ Jorge gives you a firm delivery window before you sign, and dispatcher Travis Lange watches the calendar against hurricane season so a June-through-November departure isn’t gambling against the Gulf.

What an Interstate Move Runs

We price long-distance by how much you’re moving and how far it’s going, then quote it as one all-in figure with mileage and fuel already worked in — no open hourly meter once you cross the county line. A $105 deposit reserves your truck and crew and comes off the final bill. Released value rides at the federal 60 cents per pound standard, full-value protection is available, and every shipment carries up to $1,000,000 in cargo coverage.

  • Dedicated trucks on every interstate haul — no terminal transfers
  • Firm delivery windows for fixed start dates
  • All-in written quote, mileage and fuel included
  • Licensed Texas TxDMV mover with USDOT/MC authority

What’s included

  • USDOT/MC interstate authority for hauls out of Greater Houston on I-10, I-45 and US-59 / I-69
  • One dedicated Space City truck and one crew — no warehouse transfers, no shared loads with strangers
  • Jorge Salas, our long-haul lead, plans the route and gives you a firm delivery window
  • A written long-distance quote that holds — fuel and mileage already baked in
  • Inventory tagging at the Dayton load so every piece is accounted for at the far end
  • Up to $1,000,000 in cargo coverage per shipment, with full-value protection optional

How we land on the price

It begins with a short walkthrough or video survey, and off your actual inventory we set one flat Greater Houston rate — no hourly meter hiding anywhere inside it. Whatever that quote reads is the whole price, with nothing tacked on once the truck is loaded or a storm slides in off the Gulf and shifts the date.

02 How we protect your move

We treat your things the way we'd want ours treated

Every truck pulls out loaded with pads, shrink film, and floor runners — ready to blanket furniture, keep tile and hardwood clean through a muddy summer downpour, and cushion the breakables, whether it's a brick ranch on slab out in Liberty County, an Atascocita home on Lake Houston, or a high-rise condo downtown with a freight elevator to reserve.

Quilted pads

Dressers, dining tables, and headboards get blanketed right where they sit, padding on long before anything rolls toward the door.

Stretch film

Drawers stay shut and cushions stay clean — wrapped tight so road grime and a damp, humid walk to the truck never reach the fabric.

Floor & doorway guards

Runners rolled out, rails wrapped, jambs padded — first thing we do at both homes, so floors and corners look untouched after the last trip out.

Built-to-fit crating

Right in the room, before anything fragile leaves it, we measure a mirror, glass tabletop, framed canvas, or flat screen corner to corner and build the crate around it for a snug, exact fit.

Break-down & rebuild

Bed frames, dining tables, and sectionals come apart to ride safe, and once they're through the new door our crew puts every one back together.

Straps, dollies & gear

A third-floor walk-up downtown, a long load-out across a flooded yard, or the single heaviest piece in the house — each calls up the right tie-downs and rigging off our truck, and none of it gets left behind.

03 Why us

The name on the door of the truck is the same name at the bottom of your contract

Book Space City Movers and the truck rolling up your driveway is ours, the contract is ours, and the uniformed crew walking your sofa out through the Gulf heat is on our Greater Houston payroll — your move never gets sold off. A broker works the other way around: they auction your job to whoever bids lowest that week, collect their cut, and step out of it for good.

Space City Movers
  • Our trucks, our fleet, and the full-time background-checked movers riding in them are on our own payroll — we never fill out a crew with day labor pulled off a listing site
  • The figure we write down is the figure you pay — set, signed, and accurate to the dollar before the first box gets lifted
  • The same crew end to end, from the first piece out the old door to the last one set down at the new place
  • Texas (TxDMV) household-goods registration, USDOT/MC authority for interstate runs, and every job carried on full insurance with up to $1,000,000 in cargo coverage
  • One point of contact at our Dayton office, with you from that first call straight through to the last box carried inside
What a broker does
  • Farms your move out to whatever crew undercuts the rest in the week you happened to call
  • Lets the total drift up once the truck shows, stacked with line items nobody mentioned the day you signed
  • Sends strangers you have never spoken to through your front door, putting your whole household in the hands of a crew you can't vouch for
  • Leaves it a guess whose insurer covers it the day a TV corner catches a doorframe
  • Parks a call center between you and whoever finally shows up to load, so one simple question turns into a runaround

Questions we hear about this service

Does my furniture get unloaded into a warehouse and reloaded onto another truck?
No. We run dedicated long-distance moves — the truck loaded in Dayton or Houston is the truck that pulls up to your new driveway. There's no terminal transfer and no commingling with other people's shipments, which is the most common way furniture gets lost or damaged on a cross-country move.
I'm relocating for a refinery or petrochemical job and my start date is fixed — can you commit to delivery?
Yes, and we move a lot of energy-corridor families on exactly that kind of clock. Jorge plans the haul around your reporting date and gives you a firm delivery window before you sign, not a vague 'two-week spread.' Tell us the date that can't move and we build the schedule backward from it.
How are long-distance prices set?
Long-distance is priced by the size of your shipment and the road miles, not by an open-ended hourly clock. We quote one all-in number with mileage and fuel already included, hold your date with a $105 deposit that credits to the balance, and put it in writing. No surprise reweighs at delivery.
