Pianos, Safes and the Heavy, Fragile Stuff
Some things can’t ride in the back with the boxes. Space City Movers runs a dedicated specialty crew led by Reggie Dunn for the items that take real rigging — uprights, baby grands and full grands, slate pool tables, heavy gun safes, large aquariums, antiques and oversized art. These aren’t side jobs we farm out; Reggie and our own crew handle them with equipment built for the piece, not a furniture dolly and a prayer.
From Baytown to Kingwood, Greater Houston moving crew turns the whole job into one flat figure before move day and stands behind it, with nothing extra waiting at the end.
Pianos Done Right
A piano is heavy, awkward and easy to wreck if you treat it like a dresser. We use piano boards, skid plates and straps sized to the instrument, pad it fully, and plan the path through your home before we lift. Greater Houston throws curveballs — a baby grand going up into a raised home near the Trinity River, a grand coming down the interior stairs of a two-story brick house in Kingwood. Reggie walks the approach first so the carry is mapped, not improvised.
Safes, Pool Tables and More
Texas homes come with Texas problems. Acreage houses around Dayton and Liberty County often have a heavy gun safe that has to be skidded and rigged out without gouging the slab floor. Slate pool tables have to be broken down, the slate moved in pieces, and the whole thing re-leveled at the new house. Big aquariums, marble tops, antiques and large framed art all get their own handling plan. Whatever the awkward heavy thing is, we’ve likely moved one.
Clear Add-On Pricing
Specialty handling takes extra people, extra gear and extra time, so we quote it as a plain add-on to your move and tell you the number before move day — never a surprise ‘piano fee’ at the end. Your $105 deposit still credits to the final bill. If the rest of your move is hourly, two movers and a truck are $185 an hour and three are $255. Specialty pieces ride covered at the 60-cents-per-pound released-value standard, with full-value protection optional and up to $1,000,000 in cargo coverage per shipment.

How we land on the price
It begins with a short walkthrough or video survey, and off your actual inventory we set one flat Greater Houston rate — no hourly meter hiding anywhere inside it. Whatever that quote reads is the whole price, with nothing tacked on once the truck is loaded or a storm slides in off the Gulf and shifts the date.
