01 Overview

Baytown moves on the industry’s clock, and so do we. Between the refineries off Decker Drive, the chemical plants along the Ship Channel, and the contractor shops feeding them, a big share of the families we load here are tied to the energy corridor — and that means weekends, turnarounds, and early starts, not tidy nine-to-five windows. Space City Movers is based just up US-90 in Dayton, and Baytown is one of our home runs.

Setting up a move in this stretch of Greater Houston? Greater Houston movers is on these subdivisions, Ship Channel streets, and master-planned neighborhoods most weeks.

Plant families, COIs, and a crew that shows up on schedule

If your relocation routes through a plant, a staffing house, or a contractor, odds are someone wants a certificate of insurance before a truck touches the property. Our office handles that paperwork as a matter of course — named insured, limits, additional-insured language — so the COI is issued and on file before move day instead of becoming a tailgate emergency. We carry our own coverage as a licensed Texas (TxDMV) and USDOT/MC mover, and the same uniformed crew that loads you in Baytown unloads you at the other end.

Goose Creek to the new builds off Garth

Baytown housing runs the whole range. The original Goose Creek streets give you mature trees, tight drives, and older pier-and-beam homes with porch steps that don’t love a dolly. The newer subdivisions off Garth Road and out toward I-10 are slab-on-grade brick with two-car garages and wide approaches. We read the house before we back in:

  • Floor runners and door jamb pads on day one, every job
  • Boards laid over soft or low ground so the dolly doesn’t sink
  • Shrink-wrap and blankets on furniture before it leaves the room — humidity here is no joke
  • Stair and porch carries done by hand instead of dragged
  • Appliances disconnected, padded, and strapped upright
  • A walkthrough at both ends so nothing gets left behind

One flat number, no hourly roulette

Owner Dustin Wells started this crew in 2012 after years in Ship Channel freight logistics, specifically because Baytown families were tired of hourly bills that ballooned in the August heat. We quote a single flat rate up front. For smaller in-town jobs the local rate runs $185/hr for two movers and a truck, but most folks here want the flat quote so the number on move day is the number we agreed on. A $105 deposit holds your slot and comes off the final bill.

If you’re heading out of Baytown to a job elsewhere on the Gulf Coast or across the country, we run those long hauls ourselves too — same truck, same crew, both ends. Get my free moving quote and we’ll build it around your plant schedule.

We move Baytown

Our crews run Baytown week in and week out, so the gated entrances, the long driveways, the high-rise docks, and any elevator reservation are second nature well before the truck pulls up. What we quote is a single flat rate, broken out line by line — no surprise charges tucked in the fine print waiting to trip you up later.

02 Why us

The name on the door of the truck is the same name at the bottom of your contract

Book Space City Movers and the truck rolling up your driveway is ours, the contract is ours, and the uniformed crew walking your sofa out through the Gulf heat is on our Greater Houston payroll — your move never gets sold off. A broker works the other way around: they auction your job to whoever bids lowest that week, collect their cut, and step out of it for good.

Space City Movers
  • Our trucks, our fleet, and the full-time background-checked movers riding in them are on our own payroll — we never fill out a crew with day labor pulled off a listing site
  • The figure we write down is the figure you pay — set, signed, and accurate to the dollar before the first box gets lifted
  • The same crew end to end, from the first piece out the old door to the last one set down at the new place
  • Texas (TxDMV) household-goods registration, USDOT/MC authority for interstate runs, and every job carried on full insurance with up to $1,000,000 in cargo coverage
  • One point of contact at our Dayton office, with you from that first call straight through to the last box carried inside
What a broker does
  • Farms your move out to whatever crew undercuts the rest in the week you happened to call
  • Lets the total drift up once the truck shows, stacked with line items nobody mentioned the day you signed
  • Sends strangers you have never spoken to through your front door, putting your whole household in the hands of a crew you can't vouch for
  • Leaves it a guess whose insurer covers it the day a TV corner catches a doorframe
  • Parks a call center between you and whoever finally shows up to load, so one simple question turns into a runaround

What Baytown movers ask us

Can you provide a certificate of insurance for a refinery or plant relocation in Baytown?
Yes. A lot of our Baytown work ties back to ExxonMobil, Chevron Phillips, and the contractor shops along the Ship Channel, and those moves usually need a COI on file before we roll. Tell Brooke in our office the named insured, the limits, and any additional-insured language, and she gets the certificate issued and emailed ahead of move day so nothing stalls at the gate.
We work shift turnarounds — can the crew load early or work around a plant schedule?
That's normal for us. Energy-corridor families rarely move on a banker's schedule, so we'll stage the truck at dawn before the heat builds or pick a window that fits a turnaround or a rotating shift. Travis runs the truck board and locks your slot when the $105 deposit holds the date.
Do you move in the older Goose Creek and pier-and-beam parts of Baytown?
We do. The original Goose Creek neighborhoods have narrow drives, mature oaks, and older raised homes with real porch steps, so we pad the rails, run boards over soft ground, and carry rather than drag. Our crew has loaded those streets for years and knows where the truck actually fits.

Headed into this corner of Greater Houston, or packing up to leave it?

Our Dayton crew already knows the gated entrances, the high-rise docks, and the flood-zone access around here. Ask for your free flat-rate estimate in writing and the crew is already pointed your way.
