01 Overview

Short-Term Storage Between Moves

Sometimes the calendar doesn’t cooperate. Your Dayton-area home sells faster than the new place is ready, a new-build slips its closing, or a storm in the Gulf forces a change of plans. Space City Movers bridges that gap with short-term storage handled entirely by us — your belongings come off our truck, onto our inventory, and back out again with the same crew when you’re set. No self-storage unit you have to load yourself, no second company in the chain.

From Baytown to Kingwood, Houston movers turns the whole job into one flat figure before move day and stands behind it, with nothing extra waiting at the end.

Built for the Way Closings Really Go

Around Greater Houston, timing gaps are everywhere. Master-planned and Mont Belvieu new builds run on their own schedule, and closings shift a week here and there all the time. Rather than make you sign a self-storage lease and rent a truck twice, we keep your goods staged and ready, then re-deliver when your home is genuinely move-in ready. If the date moves again, we flex — just call the office and Brooke adjusts the hold.

Stored With the Gulf Climate in Mind

Storage on the Texas coast isn’t just four walls. Heat and humidity will warp wood, rust metal and breed mildew if furniture sits on bare concrete in a hot box all summer. We keep your belongings wrapped, up off the floor, and handled with the climate in mind, so a two-month hold during hurricane season doesn’t ruin your dining set. Because it stays on our inventory, it’s tracked and accounted for the entire time — not forgotten behind a roll-up door.

How Storage Pricing Works

Short-term storage is quoted alongside your move so you see the whole picture, and because warehousing and the extra in-and-out handling are real work, we note that add-on handling up front instead of springing it on you. Your $105 deposit still credits to the move. If you’re going hourly on the move itself, two movers and a truck are $185 an hour and three are $255. Stored goods stay covered at the 60-cents-per-pound released-value standard, with full-value protection available and up to $1,000,000 in cargo coverage per shipment.

  • Short-term holds for closing gaps, new-build delays and storm season
  • Your goods stay on our inventory and in our care — not a rented unit
  • Climate-conscious handling against Gulf heat and humidity
  • Same crew loads in and re-delivers, add-on handling quoted up front

What’s included

  • Clean, secured short-term storage for the gap between a Dayton-area sale and your next closing
  • Goods stay on our inventory under our care — no self-storage unit you have to load yourself
  • Climate-conscious handling so Gulf humidity and summer heat don't sit on your furniture
  • One Space City crew loads in, holds, and re-delivers — no second company in the chain
  • Flexible holds for closing delays, new-build slips or a hurricane-season evacuation
  • Storage handling quoted with your move; $105 deposit credited, add-on handling noted up front

How we land on the price

It begins with a short walkthrough or video survey, and off your actual inventory we set one flat Greater Houston rate — no hourly meter hiding anywhere inside it. Whatever that quote reads is the whole price, with nothing tacked on once the truck is loaded or a storm slides in off the Gulf and shifts the date.

02 How we protect your move

We treat your things the way we'd want ours treated

Every truck pulls out loaded with pads, shrink film, and floor runners — ready to blanket furniture, keep tile and hardwood clean through a muddy summer downpour, and cushion the breakables, whether it's a brick ranch on slab out in Liberty County, an Atascocita home on Lake Houston, or a high-rise condo downtown with a freight elevator to reserve.

Quilted pads

Dressers, dining tables, and headboards get blanketed right where they sit, padding on long before anything rolls toward the door.

Stretch film

Drawers stay shut and cushions stay clean — wrapped tight so road grime and a damp, humid walk to the truck never reach the fabric.

Floor & doorway guards

Runners rolled out, rails wrapped, jambs padded — first thing we do at both homes, so floors and corners look untouched after the last trip out.

Built-to-fit crating

Right in the room, before anything fragile leaves it, we measure a mirror, glass tabletop, framed canvas, or flat screen corner to corner and build the crate around it for a snug, exact fit.

Break-down & rebuild

Bed frames, dining tables, and sectionals come apart to ride safe, and once they're through the new door our crew puts every one back together.

Straps, dollies & gear

A third-floor walk-up downtown, a long load-out across a flooded yard, or the single heaviest piece in the house — each calls up the right tie-downs and rigging off our truck, and none of it gets left behind.

03 Why us

The name on the door of the truck is the same name at the bottom of your contract

Book Space City Movers and the truck rolling up your driveway is ours, the contract is ours, and the uniformed crew walking your sofa out through the Gulf heat is on our Greater Houston payroll — your move never gets sold off. A broker works the other way around: they auction your job to whoever bids lowest that week, collect their cut, and step out of it for good.

Space City Movers
  • Our trucks, our fleet, and the full-time background-checked movers riding in them are on our own payroll — we never fill out a crew with day labor pulled off a listing site
  • The figure we write down is the figure you pay — set, signed, and accurate to the dollar before the first box gets lifted
  • The same crew end to end, from the first piece out the old door to the last one set down at the new place
  • Texas (TxDMV) household-goods registration, USDOT/MC authority for interstate runs, and every job carried on full insurance with up to $1,000,000 in cargo coverage
  • One point of contact at our Dayton office, with you from that first call straight through to the last box carried inside
What a broker does
  • Farms your move out to whatever crew undercuts the rest in the week you happened to call
  • Lets the total drift up once the truck shows, stacked with line items nobody mentioned the day you signed
  • Sends strangers you have never spoken to through your front door, putting your whole household in the hands of a crew you can't vouch for
  • Leaves it a guess whose insurer covers it the day a TV corner catches a doorframe
  • Parks a call center between you and whoever finally shows up to load, so one simple question turns into a runaround

Questions we hear about this service

Our new-build in Mont Belvieu slipped its closing date — can you hold our stuff a few extra weeks?
Yes, and slipped new-build closings are one of the most common reasons people use us for storage. We hold your goods on our inventory and re-deliver when your home is actually ready. If the date moves again, just tell Brooke — we'd rather flex the hold than have you scrambling for a unit at the last minute.
Will my furniture be okay in Houston heat and humidity while it's stored?
We handle storage with the Gulf climate in mind, keeping your belongings off bare concrete, wrapped, and out of the worst heat and damp so nothing warps, rusts or grows mildew. Because it stays on our inventory under our care, it's not sitting forgotten in a metal box that bakes all summer.
Is storage a separate company or do you handle it?
It's all us. The same Space City crew that loads your home holds it and brings it back — no transfer to a third-party warehouse, no second outfit you have to coordinate with. One company, one inventory, one point of contact the whole time.
