Los Angeles is the longest haul on our board, about 1,550 miles straight west on I-10 from the Houston metro to the Pacific. Better part of a full day of driving spread over two or three days on the road. It is a true cross-country move, and we run it for career relocations, families heading west, and people drawn to the coast and the California job market.
Moving out of state? our Dayton crew keeps your shipment with one Space City crew from the Houston curb to the new front door, on a flat price set in writing.
I-10 west to the coast
From Dayton we pick up I-10 and run it the entire way, through San Antonio, the West Texas miles, New Mexico, Arizona, and across the desert into the LA basin. It is the same highway start to finish, which keeps a long move clean: our crew loads in the Houston area, drives the route, and delivers several days later. One truck, one crew, no warehouse transfer along the way.
Who makes the move west
- Career relocations into entertainment, tech, and the port economy
- Families and young professionals chasing California opportunity
- Buyers trading Gulf Coast humidity for the dry Pacific climate
- People reuniting with West Coast relatives after years in Texas
What changes on the coast
The climate swings from humid, stormy, and hurricane-prone to dry, mild, and Mediterranean. The real challenge in LA is access. Hillside homes with steep driveways, tight canyon streets, apartment buildings with permit parking and elevator reservations, and long carries from wherever a truck can legally stop. It is a different world from the wide slab subdivisions around Atascocita and Kingwood. Our crew chiefs plan parking, permits, stairs, and elevator bookings before delivery day.
How we run a cross-country haul
We load before the heat builds, pad and shrink-wrap every piece, build a full inventory, and keep our own uniformed crew and truck on the job from Texas to California. Space City Movers carries its own cargo insurance, up to $1,000,000 per shipment, and holds Texas TxDMV registration plus USDOT and MC authority. We run our own fleet coast to coast, not a broker or carrier network.
What the flat rate includes
- A single binding price after the inventory, no hourly meter
- Full padding, wrapping, and furniture disassembly and reassembly
- Loading, the cross-country 1,550-mile haul, and unloading by one crew
- Optional secured storage in transit if your LA move-in is delayed

How this run goes · ~1550 mi
Starting in Greater Houston, one crew and one truck carry the whole haul, tracked door to door on a single binding flat rate. The delivery date we promise is the date it lands — your load stays with that one crew start to finish, never handed off, and you pay the figure we wrote down, no other.
